Everest Kitchen, Marrickville

The first time I tried Nepalese food is when my Manager in Subway brought homemade momo or Nepalese dumplings for me to try. It was quite an experienced. The filling of the dumpling got masala spices in it wrap in a wonton sheet and u dip it in some kind of a peanut sauce.. But despite that sounds-odd combinations, I loveeee it!! Ive been wanting to try other Nepalese but has never got the chance... My bf is not keen on indian/nepalese food so it's hard for me to persuade him. UNTIL..... I found a all-u-can-eat deal from Ouffer.
Entrées
Traditional Non-Vegetarian Nepalese Set
buffalo dumplings, char-grilled goat, grilled chicken salad, soy bean salad, beaten rice and potato salad
Main Courses
Potato & Bamboo Shoot Curry
potato and bamboo shoots tempered in light curry sauce, flavoured with Nepalese herbs and spices

Mixed Grill
a tantalising selection of succulent chicken, pork, duck, goat and lamb

Gulab Jamun
milk dumplings soaked in rosewater-infused syrup
Apparently what we got is quite different from what offered on the main courses. We only have a choice of a curry (lamb/pork/chicken/beef) but we never got the mixed grill :(
THe mixed entree was probably our favourite dish of the night ^^ The potato curry, chicken salad, momo, everything is yummy! And the plate looks so colorful tooo :)
Mixed entree
Can;t get enough of this momo so we ordered 2 more round of this hehehee!
Momo
Chicken curry - The Curry tste is similar to Indian curry but milder to my pallet. It is nice to eat with warm steam rice :) We decided not to go for seconds as we were getting full hehe..

Papadums and chilli
Milk dumpling infused with rose water. Reading the name I thought it would have some kind of chewiness as a dumpling but to my disappointment, the texture is like biting to a rice ball ;P I quite like the rice pudding at the bottom though :)
Gulab Jamun
OVerall dining, good to know what Nepalese food taste like.. Will I be back? hmmm.. Maybe I would like to taste momo in other Nepalese restaurant.. But I need to wait for the next voucher deal or persuade my sister to come with me ;P

Bibim To Mix, Darlinghurst

Normal day at work but abnormal appetite as suddenly I crave for Bibimbap when reading through some food blogs. I found out about this small place in Darlinghurst where their main food is Bibimbap and also their priority is to make healthy food delicious..

So bibimbap is a korean soul food where there are two ways to eat it. You either use a regular bowl or the hot stone bowl that make your rice goes crispy at the bottom.. Basically, it is eating rice with toppings such as spinach, beansprout, carrot, mushroom with mince meat of your choice, sunny side up eggs and the "sauce". This sauce is mainly made from the Korean red pepper paste or gochujang, sesame oil, minced garlic and sugar -- you can make it at home too, its quite simple :)

To start with, I ordered Kimchi Mandu (Kimchi and Pork dumplings..
Kimchi mandu ($7.50)

My choice is the beef bibimbap with regular bowl, as I don't like my rice crispy.. I also upgraded it to include Banchan (korean side dishes - 3 of them). After one spoonfull of the bibimbap.. I literally feel so satisfied that I can satisfied my cravings for it. It is healthy and it is so yummy...!!
Beef bibimbap ($9.50 + $3 banchan)
I looked through the menu and found Galbijim in it. I remembered my friend asking me If i have ever attempted to make galbijim before.. So I was curious what was the taste of the dish and so I ordered them too. It was a surprised to me to see that the dish was actually a set menu with rice and banchan included. I thought it was only the soup... Well, eating out with guys means rice will never going to be wasted he he..

Nick's Seafood, Darling Harbour

It is not often when I can feast on such a meal - Fresh Seafood. Its not that I couldn't, its just that its too expensive for a meal and Bebski doesn't really like "Western-style" seafood... But luckily, my parents came for my brother's graduation and I get the opportunity to eat in Nick's Seafood, Darling Harbour with my parents, bebski and my uncle ^^

We ordered two platters to be shared among us..
The first platter is the Hot & Cold pllater for two which consists of  Golden Tempura King Prawns, Blue Swimmer Crab, Freshly Shucked Sydney Rock Oysters, Tasmanian Smoked Salmon, Fresh King Prawns, Salt and Pepper Baby Calamari, Mussels & Chips

All I can say is.... Amazing! All the seafood are fresh. I never liked salmon but I lovee the salmon here! Writing this blog makes me wanna go there again... droools~~~~
Hot & Cold platter for two $130
The second platter which is Nick's platter for two is generally has similar components to the Hot & Cold platter but this one has Fresh lobster in it! The Lobster meat again is fresh and juicy!
Nick's Seaood platter for two $160
Overall, I loveeeeeeee the seafood platter here.. Will definitely come back, hope I dont have tp wait for my parents to come to enjoy the food here..~~ The price was worthed! Service was excellent too....

Hot Wok, Maroubra

It shopping night today and I was too lazy to cook dinner so me, bebski and couple of my friends decided to eat out :) Been living in maroubra for almost a year now but never tried Hot Wok chinese restaurant which is just across the road ^^

An appealing menu at the front of the place :)

The foods here are all well priced and good portioned too. It's just that sometimes the service can be quite long cause they have a lot of take away orders too...

Bebski ordered the ginger and shallot fish fillet on rice. I thought it will be the usual chinese ginger and shallot dish with soy sauce dressing on top of a steam fish fillet. But it came out differently.. its still good though. It would be better if there was enough sauce on the plate :)

I got the combination laksa as the picture was really appealing :) And the picture didn't lie, it was delicious.. The laksa paste was flavoursome and there was a lot of meat inside ,, I love the combo of vermicilli and the yellow noodle in a laksa :)

Another favorite of bebski.. Fujian fried rice.. Basically it was stirfried veggies with chicken and cooked in oyster sauce (and other secret sauce) and made to a thicken soupy consitency and pour on top of rice.. yummy ^^

This dish was omellete full of onions and spring onions with crabsticks inside.. This was my least favorite as I dont eat spring onions ;P

Another recommended dish.. The special Shantung Chicken :) Full of meat.. Unlike other cheap chinese eats where they present you a mountain of chicken meat on top and a huge chunk of bones at the bottom, this dish is actually full of meat even at the bottom of the plate ^^ And I love the crispy seaweed bokchoy on top of the chicken :)

Like any other salt and pepper pork ribs.. It tasted similar to the rest.. Its just more coating that the actual meat ;P

My favorite.... Green Beanss!! From all veggies that they have in chinese restaurant, I'll always go with green beans :) This time the beans was cooked in belacan sauce which is a shrimp paste sauce ^^ I like how the chinese restaurant deep fried the beans so its still crunchy when u bite them but it doesnt have that raw taste :P

It was a good place to have a take away or even dine in, but you just have to be a bit patient :) The staff was really friendly though ^^ Highly Recommended! I tried the scezhuan chilli chicken too which was great! but forgot to take pics ;P

Yummy8. Sussex St

I was looking through Groupon website when I saw the voucher for all-you-can-eat dumpling with one bowl of noodle shared between two. Without thinking twice I just press bought!
So we went out on Thursday night to have a bit of shopping and eating ^^

My other passion besides korean foods ~~ it's dumplings indeed :)
They served us with some starter/chinese banchan probably?hehe.. There were boiled potato sprinkled with spring onions, steamed pumpkin, braised beef brisket which is very tender and melt in the mouth yummy and rich of five spice herb! The last starter is kinda like a sweet sticky rice cake :)

The dumplings offered are pretty standard; chicken and mushroom, pork and chives, vegetables dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings.

The first free noodle bowl we ordered was the Mince noodle. The soup is rich and thick. I quite like this dish.. it will be perfect with chopped chilli! but unfortunately they only have vinegar and soy sauce on site. Its even hard to ask for chilli as the waitress doesn't really speak English T.T

The second bowl is spare ribs noodle. The soup is lighter than the mince one and lacks flavour in my opinion. It's pretty bland ;P

Overall dining experience here, well because it was so cheap, I can't really complain.. I quite like the dumplings even though they tasted like regular dumplings. The noodle too, they are quite alright.. I guess if ever I come back here, it must be bexause of another voucher :P

What do you think reader? ^^

Albee's Kitchen, Kingsford

After reading so many good review of Albee's Kitchen in Campsie, I would really want to try the foods there. It's just that I live in Eastern Sydney that it is quite rare for me to travel to Campsie :) I've made a couple of plans to visit this place but there was always a reason to cancel.

Until one day, when I drove passed back from work through Kingsford that I saw a sign saying "Albee's Kitchen". I am so excited that it is opening in my area! I msgs my friend to let him know and he was happy too that he doesn;t have to travel to Campsie just to have the famous curry puff according to him..

That's when I decided to have dinner there the next day ^^

Firstly, the must have, we ordered the curry puff, which is quite big for a puff, consisted of sweet potato mainly with some mince meat, egg and beans.. I can really taste the curry powder coming through just enough for my pallet. But for my bf's, he found it quite overpowering :)

Chicken Curry Puff ($2.50)

Bakuteh is a herbal soup made from pork bone which is simmered for a long time in 'Tea' which has some astringency in the flavour. Not many people are familiar to the taste. Even I don't really fancy this dish. As it was drizzling outside, my bf picked this dish for him ^^

Bakuteh ($11)

My old time favourite, every time I visited a Malaysian Restaurant, a must order dish is char kuey teow. I was torn apart between ordering this or the hokkian noodle. But flat rice noodle won me over :) I'm glad that I picked this dish as it is the taste that I've expected... The smoky wok aroma that comes through, especially the fried eggs in it *my favourite bit*.. The Char kuey Teow consist of clamp meat, chinese sausage, chives, bean sprout and shrimp
Char kuey Teow ($10.50)

My brother choose hainanese chicken rice as he is a fan of the dish. It is quite disappointing I should say.. We had the taste from what we ate in Malaysia as our benchmark in mind..  I haven't yet discovered any good hainanese chicken rice in sydney..
Hainanese Chicken Rice ($10.50)

One dish per person for the three of us feels like there's something missing.. We need one more dish to alternate our chopsticks from our own.. So we ordered the Nam yu Pork Ribs which is marinated in red fermented tofu and deep fried to perfection :) This Dish is my second favourite adter the Char Kuey Teow ^^

Nam Yu Pork Ribs ($14.80)
So if anyone got any suggestion for a good Hainanese Chicken Rice,, Please let me knoww :)
