5th Earl, Rosebery

I feel lucky to have live in Mascot area for awhile now. The suburb and surroundings starting to develop a number of great food spots to try! We visited 5th Earl in Rosebery last year and must I say, they are very generous in the portion!!

Our favorite dish of the day is the Pan Seared Salmon with Black Rice salad. The taste and texture combination was just perfect! Highly recommended.

We also ordered the Crab Omelette. At first we were hesistant to order it cause it's basically fried egg. But so happy that we did! Generous crab meat and that fluffy eggs with the crunch of the sweet corn on SD, just so scrumptious!

Another super yummy dish is the Grilled Beef Salad. Simple salad with the right component for beef; capsicum, mushroom and haloumi. That's all it takes to capture my heart! The beef was packed of flavor and the dressing complement the salad very well (housemade chilli dressing).

The probably only let down for me is the French toast ;P It wasn't bad but there wasn't any wow factor on it. The french toast could be fluffier. But the combo with bacon and strawberries were great :P

People from other tables were starring at us (My sis, My future sis-in-law and me) since we looked as if we can't eat alot and we ordered that much food with their giant portion and we managed to finish every single thing on the plates haha!

Highly recommend place to visit! There may be queue, but definitely worth it :)

Kafeine, Balmain

My third visit to Kafeine in Balmain :) This time is for my Birthday Brunch. Mr.P wanted to treat me for lunch here :) Arrived on a Sunday ard 11am and the place was already packed with people. Thankfully the last table at the edge is empty ;P It's like meant to be since Mr.P and I will be taking pictures of the foods for quite a bit of time and we don't like many eyes starring at us hihi..

We were greeted nicely as usual and the Owner was there too.. Apparently we are from the same country and we kinda follow each other on Insta .. He came by to the table to say Hi and also offer the Salmon salad for breakfast (even though its only avail for lunch), how nice :)

So the must always order is their Salmon bene with homemade hollandaise sauce and potato rosti at the bottom! Always love that combo instead of muffins or sourdough ~~

The Crispy Tasmanian Salmon Paradiso comprise of brown rice salad, currants, pickled ginger, cherry tomatoes and asparagus. Not to mention the 65 Degree Z'atar egg. Its just pure healthiness and deliciousness in a plate!

We were torn between choosing the french toast or the pancake. But once we read 'Coconut Pancake', we made our decision then! The pancake was so fluffyyyy and soft , the fresh berries and the vanilla ice cream complemented the pancakes really well. Mr.P loveees this dishhh!

We also ordered the Acai Bowl since we also were on an proactive mission to find the best Acai Bowl around Sydney. Even though the winner is still Culture Bean, but we will still be on the lookout :)

Overall foods as always never disappoints, service is tentative, I'm saying this not because I know the owner but that's my honest experience and opinion :) I will definitely be back for their pulled pork hash!^^

When we walked out to the counter to pay, the owner said that it's been fixed :) The meal was on the house since it was my Birthday. I couldn't be thankful enough and It literally made my day .^^. Such a kind and generous person.

The Nine, Bondi Beach

Can't believe its been monthsss since I posted my last entry.. Well nowadays Instagram and Snapchats have taken over foodblogging since it's easier and faster to post photos and write up some comments underneath. But somehow sometimes I enjoyed blogging much more since I can write up as long as I wanted to ;P

I went to The Nine months ago to try out their foods. It is located in Bondi beach and I must say the place wasn't that spacious so queue can be quite a bit. But I promised that the foods is worthed and healthy at the same time! :)

Went here with the Hubby and apparently he is not a fan of the foods so I kinda have to finish both dishes which I don't mind at all. hehe

This beautiful plate below is the Beetroot Cured Salmon, Labneh, Apple and fennel salad and Poached Egg. Picture perfect dish and the element in this plate just work very well together, the crisp of the bread, the beautifully cured salmon and the freshness of the salad . Yummo!!

My favorite is the Lamb Salad. The lamb is slow cooked with pearl couscous, kale, grilled Haloumi and raddish :) I can have this meal anytime of the day!!

Definitely will come back to try their other dishes but definitely wont take the hubby ;P

Erskin Villa, Erskinville

A newly opened cafe in Erskinville and I got the chance to visit them and try their delicious food by an invitation from Sydneyfdprn :) Went there on a Wednesday for lunch. The place is pretty comfy with their sofas setting and also they got a very good lighting since it was covered by glass window. 

First to come is the House Special Poutine with Cheese curds, Homemade Morcilla, Curry Gravy and Oozing eggs! I literally can't have enough of it! its damn delish especially the curry gravy, top notch!

Next is the Salmon Nicoise Salad with Kipfler Potatoes, green beans, tomato, olives and boiled eggs. Such a refreshing and healthy dish for a summer day like that! The salmon was of a thick chunk and was really generous in portion.

Last but not least the Chia & Black Sticky Rice Pudding. Probably my fave chia pudding ever! A smart combo with the black sticky rice which added that texture to the gooey set chia, and also the kiwi, berries and melon provides that tanginess and put colour on the dish. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this place and would definitely be back soon with my foodie troops. The foods are straight forward, clean and delish. Not to mention the comfy place to chill and the super friendly owner and great service too. In addition, it is located so close to the train station :)

The Picnic, Burwood

After all the meals in KCS, my Sis and I continue after culinary day to The Picnic in Burwood. Located in the middle of the big Park in near the Westfield, it is a really nice place to chill and hang out with friends :) That day the weather was perfect for a lunch on the park even though during summer, the fly could be a bit annoying ;p

We were seated almost immediately since we visited the place on a weekday. Not sure how the queue will look like on the weekends. 

So, to start with our full tummy, we got the Watermelon and Strawberry crush which was refreshing..

We ordered the Not-so-French-Toast which I think is a pretty unique combinations of flavours.. The toast was somewhat taste like doughnuts, but unfortunately the it tasted like a re-heated doughnuts and I dont really like the combo with the watermelon at the bottom ;p It is pretty yes, no doubt about it but I find it rather it's for photo than taste :) *IMO* other people might actually like it...

The Lamb Garden on the other hand is soooooo yummy! After a heavy meal in KCS, we wanted something light so we go for this healthy option of Kale, Goji Berries, Spinach, Goat cheese, Nuts, Shredded Slow cooked Lamb with Mint Yoghurt :)

I would love to come back to The Picnic to try other foods and also of course with an empty tummy so we can order more of the savoury dishes :)

Grandma's Little Bakery, Alexandria

I always passed this place every time I drove by O'riordan st but never got the chance to try the place out. So my mission of 3weeks in Sydney is to visit all the places that I don't get to  try last year..

The place was packed with people on Saturday when Mr.P and I went but as usual we did manage to get ourselves a table :)

They provide outdoor and indoor dining area and they also have all sorts of stuffs to buy from cookies, jams, oil, condiments, takeaway foods etc.

 Mr.P and I decided to order the Freshly squeezed Lemonade. It took me by surprised that the "Freshly" description does lift up to its name! I was expecting at least a bit of sweetness from the lemonade. But its totally sour and refreshing ;p

 Apart from our own dish, we decided to try out the Chicken Quinoa Salad with spinach and quinoa and the grilled chicken. I don't particularly a fan of the dish just because I don't really like spinach.. But the grilled chicken was tasty and the homemade tahini sauce was perfect for the dish!

Mr.P ordered the Beef Bolognese Shakshuka - Gooey eggs in the middle of the rich minced beef in Moroccan sauce is the best remedy for a warm breakfast, served with Grandma's bread which looks like a pita pocket

 Apart from eggs and chorizo for brunch, my weak on the knee thing is Mushrooms! So The tempting description of the Beef & Mushroom Vol-au-vents bought me straight away. The portion was really generous! The pastry to me can be more fluffy, but the mushrooms and the beef were scrumptious, especially with the drizzled of the Tahini sauce.

I definitely recommend this place to chill on a Sunday morning or a quick brunch. Food prices are reasonable, service is great and taste wise, you gotta try it yourself :)

Kepos St Kitchen, Redfern

I finally got the time to visit Kepos St Kitchen! Luckily I got a day off last Thursday and I decided to try this place out along with Mr.P, my crime-in-food partner :) Arrived exactly noon for their lunch menus and there were only 2 other tables occupied.

From the entrance, you will immediately see the ordering counter which also serves takeaways and an array of desserts!

We were seated on the left dining area from the counter. The place is bright and the atmosphere is relaxing and so cozy .. This is a great place to do your assignments or just catching up with friends! But maybe not on the weekend though ;p

The desserts displayed :) Very tempting but this time we won't be trying any cause we will be going to Piccolo me for our sugar hit ^^

Mr.P ordered a latte. Yup, the cup says The Grounds... and on the menu it also says 'Coffee from The Grounds' which was a good thing cause Mr.P hasn't tasted how good The Grounds coffee is!^^

 For me, I got the Ice chocolate this time. It was a pretty hot that day and chai latte wouldn't do me any good ;p I love how the Ice Chocolate is not too sweet and yet still has that milky and creamy choc note in it :)

 For the foods, I got the Southern Chicken Sandwich with Middle Eastern Coleslaw and Chermoula Mayo. I love it! The chicken was seasoned really well with the crunch and tanginess from the coleslaw and the creamy mayo. I couldn't really ask for a better meal. The handcut chip not to mention was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside! And also, another tips. Don't forget to ask for their Harrisa paste on the side for the chips. It's not as hot but definitely has that chilli kick to it.

Fried Chicken Sandwich $18

 Mr.P ordered Tunisian Seared Tuna with eggplant, tomato, cucumber, potatoes, egg and harissa dressing. I didn't try much just some bite of the potatoes. It's was alright for me but definitely not my forte :)

As content as we were with our own dishes, we couldn't skip ordering the Wood Smoked Salmon salad with olives, kipflers, soft boiled eggs and dukkah. The portion of the salmon was so generous. Salmon cooked well, the dukkah provides that crunchy texture to complete the dish and the soft boiled eggs was just an icing on a cake! It was a totally perfect dish for lunch!!

 After paying on the counter, just then I realized that there was another dining area behind the kitchen :) The place wasn't as small as I thought after all :) It's a cute cafe with great service and great foods :)

UNSW - Mathews Food Court and Around

While I still have my days off before I started working in Subway, I decided to revisit my favourite lunch spot in UNSW my beloved Uni :) Even though it was during semester break, some shops in the food court were open. I went to Mathews Food Court which is located on the Upper Campus. I usually go for the Kebab in Quad Food Court but that day I was sooo craving for the Stock Market Salad.

My previous post before was' East and West Munchies', this post should have a title of "East and West Salad" haha! Two of my favourite salads; Vietnamese Beef Noodle salad from Tropical Green (The Pavillion) and Do-your-own salad from Stock Market (Mathews building).

So my first stop is Tropical Garden. The shop served non only salad, but also juices, pho, spring rolls and all other Vietnamese delicacies. Even BBQ pork bun!

 What I love from this Beef noodle salad was the tender and juicy beef, marinated and grilled perfectly. The veggies are also my favourite, a simple lettuce, carrot and cucumber! I do ask for no mint though hehe.. The chilli was hot as well!A very generous portion for the price and with the spring rolls edition, the dish was just shmackingly yummeh! The pork bun was soft and warm, a great complement to the salad. The filling is not much but who cares if the bun is perfect ;p

From eating this tasty salads, I move on to Stock Market. As I was so full, I got the salads to go. Bebski and My sister also told me to get them some! I heard from my sis that even her friends from Mac Uni came to UNSW just for this salad! Well, GOOD NEWS is that I just found out that they have TWO other shops in the CITY!!! woohoo :)

So how it works: 1. Choose the salads (just lettuce or mix leaves), 2. Choose the size (Reg 7.90, Large 8.90), 3. Choose 7 toppings (chicken and tuna addtin add $2), 4. Choose your dressing, 5. Enjoy with their Sourdough

I always got the Regular lettuce and my toppings are always 2 eggs (I know!), Parmesan cheese, croutons, peas, grilled capsicum, crushed nuts with extra Tandoori Chicken and Chili flakes! and I love their Italian Sun dried Tomato Dressing, OMG I'm literally drooling writing this post! haha. It may look simple but I dont know why this salad is so addictive~~~~

Another Gem in Mathews Food Court is Laksa from Satay Delight. The Laksa is the favourite from this place; cheap price and generous portion. The soup is very warming for this cold weather and the richness of the soup is another plus point for this dish. The negative is that at some point you just can't take it anymore because you're too full, haha!

For the laksa, you can choose the meats to go in here and the tofu puffs is the best bit for me! Especially after it's been soaked in the creamy spicy soup!

Oh I just Love UNSW!! :)
