The Cake House Cupcakery, Albury

I was looking through the internet on places to visit in Albury and this cupcake place came up from Gourmet Traveller review and it is called Stormie D'Cupcake. I was immediately attracted to go visit as the place is all pink and cute and the cupcake looks delicious and very pretty to take pic of.

At first I didn't know hat the name is not Stormie D Cupcake anymore so when I passed the street, I thought it has closed down. But then I decided to just see this cake house cupcakery just in case they tasted any good as Bebski need a coffee hit anyway before we head back to Sydney..

When I entered and see everything is pink, I am quite convinced that this is the same cupcake store but they just change the name I guess ;P I don't know. But the cupcake too, looks different from Gourmet Traveller's pics ..

We arrived there on Saturday Morning and there isn't any much cupcake left. The owner told me that even on Fridays they will close before 4:30PM if all the cupcake has sold out. The cupcakes must be popular in Albury.

So I decided to get one of each mini cupcake. They also sell macaroons but Im not a big fan of them so this time just the cupcake :)

6 mini cupcake for $10
Took picture and then off to the car and head back to Sydney. We tried the first one when we were about 1 hour away from Albury and ......................... kicking ourselves that we didn't taste it there and buy more!! It was so delicious. The cake was moist and the icing is not very sweet. It has a good distinct flavour in each of the cupcake and this was the only cupcake that Bebski adore!

The place is quite small and so they only have 1 sitting area and that is it :) Most people come just for takeaways. There were 2-3 people came to take their Birthday Cupcake orders when I was there ^^

AS usual, bebski ordered flat white. And I have been listening to his complaints about the coffee not being in the right temperature. As he was a barista a year ago, he knows more or less about a good coffee. But this time he was so happy that his coffee is perfect and the coffee bean is really of good quality according to him ;P

Anthony's Crepe, Albury

After having our lunch in The Bended Elbow and although our tummy is about to explode, we still can't resist the temptation of Anthony's crepes that I've looked online through Urbanspoon. We don't have any other time to visit Anthony's crepes except that Friday afternoon.

When we arrived, the place was pretty plain, with white walls and bright white light. It does not give the vibe of a crepe cafe with dim orange light. We were greeted by the lovely French Hubby-Wifey that is the owner of that place. The wife is responsible to make up the crepes nd the Husband was the wait staff and make coffee :)

Even though our tummies are on the verge of eruption, we managed to order two dhishes T.T As the menu was appetizing and we are really keen to have crepes for a while now.
So I got the new menu - L' Elegante, which consisted of crepes filled with melted dark chocolate, orange pieces and vanilla ice cream.

L' Elegante $14.50

All I can say is Delicieux! The crepes is chewy, has a good bite to it, its everything I expected in a perfect crepes! It was a big portion too, It was difficult for me to finish it :( The vanilla ice cream complimented the crepes and dark chocolate really well :) I wish I can find a good crepes in Sydney too T.T

For Bebski, just a plain Nutella Crepes with Banana will do. Every time there is Nutella in the menu, be it crepes or even coffee, he always get them!
Nutella Crepe $10.50

Still a perfect crepe with Hazelnut nutella spread and pieces of banana on top, served with a dollop of cream :) Yummy enough to satisfied Bebski kekeke...

The Menu

I Highly Highly Recommend anyone who come across Albury, Must visit Anthony's Crepe! It was a really good crepe for me :)

The Bended Elbow, Albury

After the working part done in Albury.. Now is happy free timeee :) Went back to the hotel to meet up with Bebski and went around the city for lunch. I had a list of restaurant to choose from but every one of them is Western and only one Japanese and when we looked into the menu and it wasn't really inviting for us. I asked Bebski what he feels like eating and suddenly he said "Steak"! Ok, The Bended Elbow it is!

The Bended Elbow is a British Ale House and served a good variety of foods. They are open for functions too: Birthdays, Engagement, Corporate Meeting, etc. They also has a rooftop bar and they transformed to a Club on Friday and Saturday night.

The Design was pretty unique and true to the British culture :)

It was really cozy inside and there were quite full when we arrived. But after waiting a bit, we finally got a table :) We look at the menu and we have to order in the bar and pay straight away. then we were given an alarm that beeps when the foods are done.

Tried the Pink Lady Apple Cider. Which tasted like GreenSand but less sweet. Can't really taste the apple notes too but Bebski really like it alot!

I ordered 3 dishes and asked for water from the Bar Lady. She then asked me "3 glass of water?", Im like "No, two. Three Dishes is just because we like to eat". and she replied with a smile "There's really nothing wrong with that".

Pulled Pork Sliders 3 for $10

The pulled pork sliders come in a crusty crunchy mini buns and was served with asian slaw. The pulled pork is really dry that we need to put tomato sauce to help with the swallowing. But they are really well seasoned. I would really like to have some dressing in the slaw though..

400g Rib Eye $33

Bebski ordered the steak with mushroom sauce which cooked to perfection and has that char grilled flavour on it. The meat is tender as well.

Pork Belly with Apple sauce, chips and salad $23

The winner of the dishes! The pork belly. Bebski fell in love with the Pork Belly and he reckon that this is the best he's ever eaten :P
I agree that the pork belly is really crunchy as they roast the pork belly and then deep fried to golden crunch. But, it was wayyy too salty for me. I think they put too much salt! But the apple sauce really helps to balance out those saltiness and overall it was a delicious meal!

Overall dining experienced was great. Highly recommend this place. No wonder it was pact with people even when we left.. ^^

Albury Trip

Never ever have I thought that I will be back here in albury since my bachelor degree fieldtrip from Sydney - Melbourne - Sydney. Here I am again, 2 years later, for work purposes.
Me and bebski drove for approx 7hrs from Sydney! As we were stuck for an hour in M5 on a Thursday night. What a luck :( And on our way, the weather too, was not our friends. Lots of thunder and lightning - heavy heavy rain!

I have forgotten what the city looks like.. As we reached the CBD, I was quite impressed that it was not as bad as I remembered it to be..

Dean st is the main street here. The same like George st in Sydney. It a stretched of 4-5 blocks of shops, cafes & Restaurants. What I noticed here is that there are heaps of brunch and cafes than the restaurant.

We stayed in Rydges Hotel which is quite cheap.. The cost is $107pn if you register as the priority reward member :) We arrived in the hotel quite late and so we went to bed straight away.

It wasn't as luxurious as Rydges in Sydney CBD. But the room is quite spacious and clean. Its just the bathroom thats a bit dirty and the chipped tiles here and there.. I would say that the Hotel is tired. They really need to renovate..

Went for Breakfast on the last day of the stay as from the look on the Website, the food offered looks very appealing and I read somewhere that it costs 20AUD pp which is quite cheap! So we had a big breakfast there!

The Hot food station.. My favourites! I can't take a pictures of what's beneath the lids as they were quite heavy and everyone was starring when I started taking pictures ;P So let me just elaborate. There were 4 different types of eggs; scrambled, poached, boiled and fried sunny side up. Also pork sausage, bacon, hash brown, baked beans, herbed mushrooms and grilled tomatoes.

Bread selections station.. served with various jams and u can toast them too!

A couple of danishes which is really crispy and moist in the inside, not too overly sweet. And two muffins (sweet & savoury), it tasted like a plain flour to me ;P

This station is quite appetizing with colourful fruits, various yoghurts, parfait and Bircher Muesli, Yummm~~ Healthier Option than the Hot food Station kekeke.

My eyes was always towards the savoury breakfast first! I like my eggs, bacon and sausage in the morning!
Everything was great. The bacon was too salty that I had to eat it with the croissant .. The poached egg, I was hoping the yolk oozes out, but it was a disappointment.. But the scrambled egg was the winner for me, it was creamyyyy and soft..

Next I had the oats, cereal and skim milk :)
It was a good choice to balance my palate after my savoury dish..
Then I also tried the parfait and Bircher Muesli, can't really finish them all as I was quite full. So just a bit or two to satisfied my curiosity hihihih

To finish everything off, I had the fruits...

Overall, it was a good breakfast. The Lady who serves us was really attentive and friendly. I may say that Albury was one of the many cities with the nicest people ^^

The negative point from the breakfast, it turned out to be 28AUD pp instead of 20 :( Shudve gone to Mr.Benedict or Mr.propietor for breakfast instead T.T But oh well, whats done is done, its a good breakfast anyway. Need to do better research next time :)
