3Q Chicken, Sydney

Another Taiwanese fried chicken snacks made its way to Sydney crowd. Last week I got this deal from Scoopon for a Fried chicken with chips and a can of soft drink for only $7.50. Didn't know this place exist if its not from Scoopon ;p Went to the city at about noon and the place was swarming with people who bought the same voucher as me..

16 years secret recipe and finger licking awesome description made me drool even more waiting for my chicken to be cooked!

They also provide several self serve sauces on the counter from spicy mayo, thai sweet chilli, honey mustard, and regular mayo. Boy, the sauce sounds like subway sauces to my ear ;p

Anddd after 10mins of waiting, I got my Signature Fried Chicken which was perfectly crumbed and deep fried. I like how it got that spicy kick into it and you can really tell that the chicken was marinated and seasoned really well! Also love that they didn't use the usual bread crumb to coat the chicken. Bebski & I agreed this time that we love it more that Hot Star ;p

The Curly Fries that comes with the deal was crispy and topped with herbs that it doesn't need any more sauce on it. I did try the spicy mayo but I prefer it without.

I must say that if you walk past by event cinemas, do make a stop in the place and try out their Signature chicken or even better, the Cheesy fried chicken!

Shihlin Taiwanese Street Snack, Chippendale

Who doesn't love street foods.. Shihlin is known for its XXL fried chicken with choices of spiciness. I knew about Shihlin was when I went back to Jakarta couple years ago. It was a hit in several shopping malls. I think it was last year that it just reached Sydney's market.

Not long after Shihlin hit Sydney, a new Fried Chicken snacks followed - Hot Star Large Fried Chicken. Shihlin is not as popular as the latter but to my personal preference, I like Shihlin better! ^^

The chicken is pure chicken breast with no bones in it and the chilli powder that they used are really spicy, thus more flavour!

Went to the ones in Kingsford many times but this post is when I visited Central Park Mall :)

The chicken also has been soaked in milk and then covered with the tasty crumb and deep fried to golden perfection. Another trick to keep the chicken moist!

They also have other foods besides the chicken such as the crispy floss egg crepe and also the handmade oyster mee sua that I would love to try next time ^^

Taiwan Ganbei, Chinatown

Taiwan ganbei is the first Taiwanese restaurant that I've ever been to. It is located in the heart of Chinatown just next to Meetfresh. Taiwanese cuisine usually will not be my choice for my meals but this time a friend recommend it to me :)

To start with we ordered the spicy beef brisket. The beef was so tender and juicy and the sauce covering it was packed of flavour! The price for the portion are cheap as well.
Spicy beef brisket $5.50
The four of us ordered a combo which comes with a meat dish and a bowl of rice topped with minced pork and boiled egg. Loveeeed the boiled egg!

So Combo no.1 is the Three cup chicken. The name comes from the three main ingredients used to cook this dish which are sesame oil, soy sauce and chinese rice wine. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was delectably good.
Combo with rice $15.50
Combo no.2 that we ordered was deep fried chicken with basil. The chicken was cooked to perfection and it has a nice chinese spice note coming from the batter.

Deep fried chicken with basil combo $14.50
And the last combo that we ordered was the deep fried pork chop. It has the same batter as the chicken but the pork chop was drizzled with this chinese style teriyaki sauce which complemented the pork really well!

Deep fried Pork chop Combo $15.50
It surprises me that I actually don't mind Taiwanese cuisine at all. But this restaurant has yet convinced me to come back :)
