Kafeine, Balmain (3rd Visit)

For the third timer I travel to Balmain just to visit Kafeine :) This time me and me foodie friends are invited by the lovely Mr.L (Owner of Kafeine) to taste their new menus. My review below are honest and I'm not saying its delicious just because Im invited :p

From left: Pomegranate house made tea, Green smoothie and Coffee Tonic. Okay, lemme describe these drinks. The house made is very refreshing with a hint of those floral fruity flavour and not sweet. The Green Smoothie consist of Kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, banana and blended with apple juice! Trust me, its very healthy and delish at the same time. Now the Coffee tonic is something different.. Its tonic water infused with cold drip and citrus. It is very interesting and it's my first time trying such drink, even though to be honest I'm not a fan hehe..

If you wonder what sorta dish shown in the pic below.. Lemme tell ya, proudly Indonesian ingredient: Tempeh, is the hero for this dish. Definitely for vegetarian/vegan option. The concept is like a san choy bow but with tofu and tempeh! Not sure if it's up on the menu or not, but definitely worth a try!

Green Smoothie Bowl - Quinoa, Muesli, chia, Coconut & Fresh fruit. Hmm... I think it smoothie itself need some flav punch, maybe bananas? It tasted pretty bland but fortunately the fresh fruit helps alot.

The Pulled Beef Potato hash is another dish that you must get! The slow cooked beef ribs are tender and juice with peas, bacon, poached egg and the scrumptious hollandaise sauce!

Twice Cooked Duck. Crispy skin and juicy meats. I literally drools over this right nowww!

Earl Grey Panna Cotta with Granola and Berries. Very profound earl grey note in it which we love! silky texture and nice crunch from the granola!

Crunchy French Toast - Fresh fruits, Maply syrup and Vanilla ice cream. Simple and yummy. But to me, Circa still serve the best french toast ;)

Definitely one of my fave cafe in Sydney and will come back very very soon for their latest menu update~ !!

Cuppa flower, Waterloo

I currently live in Mascot and below the apartment there is this cute lil' cafe selling coffee and flowers. I always wonder what kind of foods they serve and unfortunately they just some pastries and smoothie bowl.

I've seen some post about another cafe with the same name but different location. I looked into it and apparently they are owned by the same owner but this one in Waterloo has all sort of dishes offered in the menu.

So I went to give it a go after seeing so many pretty pictures from the place and especially those cute Totoro black sesame and green tea sponges. 

We got the Cuppa Flower Special Rice Noodle and we got the choice of pork or beef. I chose beef. For $16.50 you got a decent portion for 1. Asian inspired taste, al dente noodle and flavoursome broth! I highly recommend everyone to try them!

For the dessert, I really want to try their Taro mille crepe, but that time they only have the Earl Grey Crepes which in my opinion tasted more black sesame than Earl Grey. Also for the Matcha Swiss roll which I love, fluffy and a profound matcha note and Black sesame sponge which has a good texture but unfortunately the black sesame note has gone baked away -.-"

Apparently my foodie friend agreed with me and he also said that the sponges tasted like nothing but the swiss roll, with the help of the cream helps with the flavs :)

I would recommend this place a visit. I would like to come back and try their savory dish cause their linguine Al Funghi seems divine!!

Harajuku Gyoza, Potts Point (New Menu)

I've posted some yummy foods by Harajuku Gyoza before. This post is about their new exciting menu that will be available in store and also what they sell in Night market in brisbane :) I am so lucky that I got invited to try these yummy foods first hand!

First below here is the cute OctoDog. Sausage wrapped with bread and deep fried and shaped as this cute octopus! Apparently this snack is really popular in their night market in Bne~! can't wait to have them in Sydney as well --

They also have a new Frose Rose drink on their menu, its a slushie alcoholic drink with a hint of rose. Refreshing and aromatic at the same time! Love thiss! Definitely must try, perfect companion for the gyozas!

In my first post, I only posted the Original Raindrop cake but this time I did take the Greentea one too and they have a new one, strawberry flavour! My favourite is still the Green tea though, but very pretty tricoloured dessert :)

If you haven't try this melt-in-the-mouth jelly, u definitely should!

New dessert in their menu too is this Watermelon Jelly with Choc chip as the seeds. So cute and Hugeee! It can feeds maybe 4-5 desserts lover at a time ~~

Sydney recently has been hit by Cheesecake fever by the famous Uncle tetsu's wobbly cheesecake. When Original cheesecake is getting too mainstream, Harajuku Gyoza now bake their own Green tea cheesecake! It will be available in store through phone order and booking only, so no walk-ins. It's $22 per box and I can guaranteed it wobbles and tasted as light as Uncle Tetsu's, and this is better cause it's green teaaaaa cheesecake hehe! They also have the original one available. :)

So this time, I got to bake my very own cheesecake :) Not bad despite the crack on top hehe ~~

Lazy Suzie, Darlinghurst

Lazy Suzie is a new Malaysian Eatery at Stanley St in Darlinghurst where they specialized in Malaysian cuisine. Lazy Suzie is under the same management as Devon Cafe. So I was pretty stoked to try out what's on their menu.

We went there on a Sunday and thankfully since it's pretty new, there wasn't any queue when we arrived. Waiting for the mains to arrive, we ordered this Matcha Fondant which was quite dense for me but rich in Matcha flavour and most importantly. it wasn't too sweet.

Also bought the Cronuts which I thought would be better if they can slightly heat it up ;P But we still manage to finidh everything off ...

Le Le Let me intoduce you to the awesomeeee Char Kwe Tiau I've had so far in Sydney. It may not taste or look like the usual thing that many places in Sydney have but this one is the closest taste that I can find to the one we have back homeee ~~ Even though the price can be too overly through the roof for a fried rice noodle dish, but it's totally worth your money! They got a choice of $17 or $25 (with extra servings of seafood) like the pic below. The wok taste is there, the chewy delicious noodle is justtt noms!

Lam Mee - Traditional Birthday Noodle. Noodles soup serve with pork broth, Omelette and Sambal Prawn. The soup is on the subtle prawn-y side, if you're not familiar with the taste, it may taste bland especially after eating the sharp Char kwe tiau. It wasn't the fave of mt friends, but I actually don't mind it :)

Now this right here is another must order dish! Aunty Jenny's Roti Baby - Spiced pork fried bread with eggs. Yes fried bread! Served with a side of soy sauce and chopped chilli, just the perfect way to eat it!!

Anddd.... what we all be waiting forrr.. ABC shaved ice! Shaved Blue pea flower ice, Bubur cha cha and Taro Ice cream! It's not only the pretty colour of the photogenic dessert, it actually tasted amazeballs! It can be again exxy for $14 for such a small dessert, but oh god its soo worth it! :) In loveeee so much with this icy dessert!

Will definitely be back for the rice noodle and ABC shaved ice! Might come for dinner and tried their pork belly satayy, drooolss~!!

Calabur Cafe & Diner, Bondi Junction

A recently opened cafe in Bondi Junction.. Asian inspired cuisine are served here in Calabur cafe and Diner. They are cafe by the day and serves alcohol by night :) The service here are superb. Everyone are very friendly.

The place may be a bit hard to notice at first glance since it is located somewhat like in a "basement" and who would've thought once u go down the stairs, this pretty little cafe serve yummy foods!

I went here with Ms.N and Mr.P. We tried 3 dishes here. 

First is the Mama's Egg Pudding. Calabur's signature ASian steamed egg pudding sprinkled with crispy bacon bits and served with a side of Uncle Ray's salad. IMO, the pudding is a bit bland and the texture is not as soft as I thought it would be. Maybe because I am benchmarking that with Japanese Chawanmushi. However, that Salad, it may look ordinary but the dressing are just amazing! Ms.N and I literally can't stop diggin to that small bowl of salad!!

Next, we had the Granola Fruit Market. Fresh Berries and kiwis on a bed of Greek Yoghurt and a side of Honey. Well, there is nothing extraordinary in the dish, as healthy as it is, I always loved a good yoghurt with a crunch of those granola and freshness of the berries. On top of that, this dish looks soo pretty!

The must order dish when u visited the cafe. Spaghetti Namtok Salad - Angel hair spaghetti served with fresh sous vide atlantic salmon tossed in tangy Thai dressing with a mixture of sweetness, sourness and a hint of spicy note. It's sooo scrumptious! One bite is all it takes. The only thing for me probably the angel hair pasta could be seasoned a bit as it is pretty bland. Even though we were discussing that if may be a bit bland so it won't clash much with the salmon taste. But I think some herbs or even garlic oil will even be better than plain pasta :)

Overall, we were really happy with the taste and the service here, But probably the portion need to be increased a bit more especially on the namtok salad ;p

Haven, Surry Hills

Haven located in Central Station area has become popular recently with their egg waffle menu. I went here once before with my sis as they have an offer in Groupon. The foods here are asian fusion inspired and the place itself is really spacey, laid back and suitable for meeting or just hangin out with friends. They have a piano near the entrance and before they have an offer of a free coffee if you can play a song with it :) Which we did as my sis did 1 song there.

Below are the coffee that we received for free :) The coffee here is always serve with a side of raisin. Probably to sweetened the palate of the bitterness from the coffee.

With the Groupon offer, we got to choose 2 meals from their menus and 2 drinks. For the first dish, we got the Crispy Cauliflower with Poached egg which I think is no longer in the menu.

And their signature dish until today is their Pork Belly Kimcheese Burger. Five spiced Pork belly with Bocconcini cheese, Apple, Kale, Sesame Omellete, Radish and Milk Bun. Generous portion of the pork and also the combination of everything else is just perfect! I can eat this any time of the day!!

On my second visit, went here before the queue to try their on-the-hype-on-insta Egg Waffle!

The first one is the Kimcheese Egg Waffle served with Vanilla bean ice cream and Kimchee. I seriously don't get the combination of the two. I don't mind eating the vanilla ice cream along with the kimchee egg waffle, but the kimchee at the bottom of the vanilla ice cream is just weird to me.  But that again just my opinion though cause Mr.P loves it. haha

The second egg waffle that we got is the Green Tea Egg Waffle with red Beans. Nothing pretty special with this, but I love the waffle more since it's more crisp and eggy.

They offer 3 kindsof Egg waffle. The other one is the Nutella and Banana if i'm not mistaken. Should get that one too. Definitely be back to Haven as thhey alwqays have changing menu and as always, something to look forward to!
