Fish Market Cafe, Pyrmont

My go to eating spot every time I visited the fish market is fish market cafe! Always the busiest and now they sell the sushi donuts which is currently a thing in the US! :)

I always got the Grilled platter cause me and the hubby lovessss the combo in it! I think that the price suit the portion that we get :)
$42.50
Craving for some lobster on the previous visit and so we tried the Lobster platter :) Still prefer the grilled platter though :)

$68.50
They have an array of sushi donuts to choose from but they are quite expensive! If you ever wonder if there's anything else below the colourful toppings, the answer is yes! It has some more meats and seaweed inside.. Even though some of my friends give me some negative review about the taste, but for me, it's alright and worth a try.. although I wouldn't buy them again hehe

Exploring Malaysia ( Ipoh & Sitiawan ) ...

Continuing my post from KL, after having breakfast with my parents, they dropped us to KL Sentral and we took the ETS Train to Ipoh. It was a 3 hours long ride and the condition of the train itself is pretty new but they don't have enough space for big luggage, so I ended up sitting in the train bending my feet up on the seat for the whole journey T.T

The way to Ipoh is undoubtedly picturesque and it's so calming seeing a lot of greeneries and mountains.

3 hours later.. We arrived in Ipoh and our good friend Mr.JT picked us up and brought us straight away to eattttt :)

One of the many restaurants in Ipoh that worth visiting is Lou Wong. We arrived 4pm and the place was still full of people. They close at 4:30PM and will re open again for dinner. Thankfully, we made it just on time :)

Popular dish in this restaurants are the Soy Steamed Chicken and the Beansprout. The workers there hardly speaks English. Luckily our host can speak more than 2 languages, so we are safe ;p Apart from those two dishes, we also ordered their homemade Fish and Pork Balls. Instead of steamed rice, we had Rice noodle soup to accompany the meals, We also ordered chicken feet but I was too hungry to wait for the Chicken feet to come for the picture ;p

With full tummy, we continue our journey straight to Sitiawan. It's Mr.JT hometown and is located in the Manjung district of Perak with population of approx. 95,000 people.

It was at least 1.5 hours drive from Ipoh. I must say Sitiawan may look insignificant in map but the they surely do serve fresh seafoods and coconut water!
Arrived in Mr.JT's crib around 6PM, we took shower and got ready by 7:30 PM for dinner. Mr.JT's parents brought us to their favourite seafood restaurant called Kuan Hwa

It is the first place where I experienced the fresh-est Coconut water and flesh ever! It tasted so different from the rest I've tried in many other places. ON top of that, the seafood are fresh and the herbs that they cooked with are so fragrance and delish!

That much foods on the table and it costs not more than 100RM. That means not more than 35AUD ;P

There are not much of a nightlife here in Sitiawan. The locals usually hangs out in Cafes playing darts or pool or just chill with friends so that's what we did as well HeHe...

Our last day in Sitiawan before we head to Penang, we got to try the so-called-very-yummy Bakut Teh according to Mr.JT.

He ordered both wet and dry Bakut Teh. It's the first time I found out they have a dry one too. Each pot consists of Pork ribs, pork belly, pork intestines and pork meat. The soup is different from the one in KL, it is less medicinal and lighter which is why bebski loves this one better. For me personally, I like the one in KL cause they got more punch of the flavour.

But my fave on the table should be the dry pot! It is enrich with many herbs and spices and is so good eaten with steamed rice! If u asked why there is fried sticky dough on the small bowl, the answer is local eat that by dipping them in the Bakut teh soup ;p

After breakkie, we went to Pulau Pangkor (Pangkor Island) with Ferry. It is a short ferry ride of 10mins only

Arrived in Pulau Pangkor, we hired 2 bikes to explore the island for the day. Bike hire cost us 60RM excluding fuel. It was an amazing island I must say. The scenery are just breath taking and riding a bike is sooo much funnnn :)

We made a couple of stops to take pictures and to enjoy the beautiful view while chatting with each other. Had a great quality time together there :)

It took us about 45mins to go around the island without stopping. After riding for hours, we were starving and found this fried food truck where we bought a whole lot of snacks ;)

After the snack, we went back to the port and waited for the ferry to bring us back to Sitiawan. It was a really fine day and I can't wait to show more pictures of my journey in Penang :) Even though I ended up getting sun burn and sweating like crazy most of the time, I do enjoy my time in Sitiawan alottt :)

Kafeine, Balmain

The only time I visited Balmain area is when Adriano Zumbo has no other branches yet. I never knew there is this hidden gem in the hood. Mr.Wjt brought me to Kafeine, not only because he knew most of the people working there but also he guaranteed me that the foods they serve are superb :)

So we went on a bright Saturday arvo for brunch. The place was packed with people coming and going for their Campos Coffee and also with the patrons dining in.. Luckily, we got the perfect spot to see the busy barista making up orders and also we got a great lighting spot for pictures...

These little babies caught my attention once I entered the place! I knew that I must definitely get the Lychee Rose Gf Cake!

I did my homework beforehand as to what's their popular thing to try. From the many pictures of smoothies, the Iced Almond Chai won me over.. I love chai and I've never try it cold, so I ordered it and I looovee it The spice was not overpowering the drink, it was just soo goodd!

Mr.Wjt ordered Ice Mocha as usual. I highly recommend it for those who loves their mocha! It has the perfect ratio of coffee and chocolate in my opinion and just the right sweetness to my liking :)

So for the food, I leave it to my friend to choose it for us. The first to come is Salmon Paradiso - Grilled Norwegian crispy skin salmon, 65o Za'atar egg, Pickled ginger, Asparagus, Sultanas, Pecans and Brown rice salad. All components works really well together and must I say that I love the Salmon even though I'm not a salmon fan usually, really can't get enough of the crispy skin!

Salmon Paradiso $19.90

The second dish to come is the Corn Fritter which comes with Quinoa avocado salsa,  bacon slab & Tomato relish. This is another Gluten Free option in their menu board. So the verdict for this dish is.... one of the best corn fritter I've has so far in Sydney! The salsa adds a refreshing touch to the meal and the bacon slab, so scumptious! It was thick and smokey and it adds that saltiness bit that is needed by the dish ~~
Corn Fritter $16.90
Compliment from the Barista.. Acai Smoothie which was soo dayuummm good! It was refreshing not too sweet. Got a nice banana note in it which I think is a great combo with Acai. Definitely must try if you ever visit Kafeine!

We ate too much already but can't help it but to order their tantalising Pancake with Strawberries, Coconut Mousse, spiced Fig and mix fruit compote. One word. Yum! Everything u can ask for from a dessert!

Pancake with the Lot $13.90
We also did ordered the Lychee and Rose Cake but I didn't get to take a pic cause they put a candle on the cake for Mr.W birthday that day.. But it was a lovely cake with a good hint of both lychee and rose :)

Great service and yummy foods. You just have to experience it yourself :)

Red Chilli Sichuan, Chinatown

Red Chilli Sichuan is located in Chinatown just below Harbour Plaza. If it wasn't for a voucher in Groupon, I think I wouldn't have the chance to know this great eating place! Ms.N told me about this deal in Groupon for our catch up with Ms.D and Ms.E from my previous workplace.

The deal includes a bowl of soup each, a choice of drink (Watermelon juice, Wine or Soft drink) and each person can choose 1 from the A la Carte menu and 2 person share 1 Crab with min weight of 800g!! Because there were four of us, we got to choose 4 mains + 2 crabs!!

Fresh watermelon juice came first. A full glass of the juice with no ice and no sugar added. What u get is purely from the fruit.

Next, the soup came. Even though the menu say 'Pumpkin Soup', but we got the sweet corn soup which is even better than pumpkin :) The soup tasted sweet and so good to warm up the body before mains.

I don't know why but they serve the Mantau after the soup. A serving of both steamed and fried Mantau with Condensed milk on the side :) Loveeee the fried mantau with condensed milk! But the steamed one, I'd rather dip it in the Venerupis sauce and eat it that way hehehe..

Venerupis Hotpot or regularly known as pipies. It is cooked with sichuan peppercorn, bamboo shoot, brocolli and ear fungus mushrooms. The sauce is just delish! Piping hot and just hit every tick in my delicious pipies hotpot criteria! This dish is highly recommended ~~

Venerupis Hotpot
Then we also ordered the Red Chilli Chef special fish fillet. A typical Sichuan dish containing fish fillet in a sea of Chilli oil with beansprout underneath and garnished with Coriander. The fish was silky and flavoursome :)

Fish fillet in chilli oil
The third main to arrive is the lamb ribs cooked with spicy cumin. A strong cumin flavour which complemented the lamb really well. The lamb is cooked to perfection, so tender that it fell of the bone easily.

Lamb Ribs in Spicy Cumin
Our table was full of foods, not to mention their huge portion! The 4th main arrived which is the deep fried chicken in dried chilli and we were quite full even with three dishes and the crabs is yet to come!

For the crabs, even though we have 2, we can only cook them 1 way and we chose to cooked it with vermicelli and salted egg yolk. I thought that the vermicelli lacks flavour and the whole dish was just too dry. Luckily, the crab itself was the stands-out. The meat was really sweet and juicy and even though there were no sauce, I don't really mind! This is probably the first crab meat that tasted this sweet in Sydney.

We had a great meal and a great time catching up with my girl friends. We can't finish everything so each of us got a box of takeaway haha!
I even bought another voucher for 2 and last Saturday night I went there again with Bebski :)

This time, I tried the Double smoked Pork slices which is cooked in a lot of spring onions! The pork was well smoked and tasted so much like ham. It wasn't my favourite and the portion is not as much as the other dishes. And for the second dish, I ordered the Venerupis again. Bebski and I are pipies lovers! hehe.

For the crab this time, I was torn between Crab in Black pepper and Butter sauce or Crab cooked typhoon shelter style. I googled Typhoon shelter style and it looked delish, with garlic, ginger and shallot, it will never go wrong. The crab dish was lipsmackingly good! As usual the crab meat was sweet, but what was amazing is that mixture of garlic and ginger crumbed! I mixed it with the steamed rice and the chilli sauce from the Venerupis, what a perfect combo, Mannnn I'm drooling while writing hehehe!

Yes, the picture below is what you get when you buy the voucher for 2 people! 37.5AUD each is such a Bargain! I can safely say that this is the first voucher that I'm satisfied with, be it the food or the service or the portion, yummeh yummeh in my tummeh ^^

Will definitely be back even without voucher! That's how good the foods are ^^

Seoul Ria, Sydney

Seoul Ria is one of my go-to K restaurant in Sydney.. Amongst my friends, Kan pungki is our favourite menu to order. The place is located right in the middle of george st, on the top level besides Fujiya. My friends and I had an early dinner on Friday and so the place is still quite empty, which is a good thing. I've came here once on a Saturday night and there were a long queue for table!

Not long after ordering, the Banchan came..

From all of those above, my favourite has to be the Kimchi and Kkwarigochujjim..
The kimchi I should say is my favourite among other korean places I've been to. It has the right garlic onion note, with a balance of sourness and chilli flavour :)

And the Steamed Shishito Pepper or kkwarigochujjim which is a green wrinkly chilli that is sweet and very mild. This is my new favourite banchan! I tried looking up the recipe but it seems quite time consuming with the steaming and all.. But I will definitely give it ago in the future :)

Our first dish is the Seafood Pajeon. I was looking at the menu and saw the price for it being $18, was pretty shocked cause usually seafood pajeon cost only ard $13-14, but then when the dish came, I finally get it! The size is huge, I mean HUGGGEE!
Seafood Pajeon $18

Unfortunately, the seafood pajeon is not as crispy and flavoursome as the one from Madang. It was quite thick and gooey. I don't quite like it T.T
But the food is getting better from here onwards :)

Then we have the Kang Pung Gi which is a korean-chinese dish of sweet and spicy deep fried chicken. For some reason the Kang Pung Gi in Seoulria is really delicious. The sauce has a good balance with the cubed vegetables of corn, capsicum, carrot, peas, onion and chilli make it a delectable dish.
Kang Pung Gi $30

My colleague at work recommend me to try their hotpot. As I always got YukGaejang or Budaejigae, this time, we decided to try the Jjampong Jeon gol which is a spicy seafood stew with udon noodle at the bottom. My oh my, it was so goooddd.. Not too spicy, and yet has good chilli note, rich, with fresh seafood and the chewy noodle! Fell in love with this hotpot!! It was an enjoyable dish with so many texture in one pot...

Jjampong Jeon Gol $48
There were 4 of us (3 Guys with huge appetite ;P) dining and sharing these 3 dish and yet we still can't finish it all! They seriously serve a big portion of food and flavours :)
Highly Recommended to get your hotpot hit in cold days!
