Aslan Coffee Roaster, St Peters

One fine Sunday, the Hubby & I craved for Indonesian Coffee and so we went to Aslan Coffee Roaster. They used beans from Indonesia and to me they got a strong burnt, dark, roasted note to it which I love and I thought made a perfect cappuccino :)
The place itself is not too big but U can tell how good the coffee is by the aroma of it once u passed by this place.

These dishes that I ordered below are the first top three in their menu list ;P
First is the Peppercorn Smoked Salmon - pan fried perkedel (Indonesian style potato croquette), chipotle aioli, poached eggs & dukkah. I personally like how the salmon and the perkedel goes well together and that sauce is a perfect one for the combo. Unfortunately the egg was a bit overcooked so I can't get that eggporn photo ;P

S18

Second one is for the hubby, Maple Glazed Bacon - chipotle scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, avocado, water cress, dukkah & hummus on sourdough. The hubby lovesssss the caramellic notes on the bacon, me on the other hand lovess the multigrain sourdough with the avo and egg!

$17
Coconut Crusted Pandan Chiffon with fresh strawberries, crumbled walnut, orange coffee curd, mini citrus & espresso pearls. Fluffy light pandan chiffon is amazingg! Especially with the orange coffee curds! The let down for me in the crumble. It tasted a bit like oxidized nuts kept too long in a jar. But apart from that, its a great dish.

$15
I would definitely be back and recommend to everyone to check this place out! Taste yourself how aromatic Indonesian Coffee can be. They are quite strong, some people may not like it, but I love them hihi.. ^^

O Organic Produce Cafe, Surry HIlls

Run by Balinese, O Organic cafe offers not only healthy dishes but also they ensure yumminess and freshness in every elements of the dish! Went here on a Sunday with my foodie troops and as there were 7 of us, its pretty hard to find a table since the place itself is not too spacey.

The cafe is located next to fouratefive and my sister is the one who recommended it to me and specifically mentioning the green chilli brown fried rice to order :)

And so we did.. With many other dishes and also some complimentary fishes from the generous chef itself :)

Unlike any other fried rice, u don't really feel that guilt of having a plate full of carbs and being fried has the stereotype of being "oily", this brown fried rice (Ali's Balinese Fried Rice) actually has more veggies than the rice :) Healthy but still got the authentic Indonesian Fried rice taste and especially with the side of the Green Chilli sauce, which is not as hot as i thought it would be, maybe cause it has been adjusted to spiciness level for Australians ;p

Ali's Balinese Fired Rice $17.50
Next to come is the Scrambled Tofu,, such an exciting dish and I thought at first the flavour and texture won't but I needed to correct my thought after a but of this heavenly dish :)  It comes with mushrooms, capsicum, green beans, garlic, chilli, herbs, avocado, mix leaf & Sourdough.

Scrambled Tofu $16.50
One Egg Omelette - Meredith goats curd, herbs, baby leaf & Toasted Sourdough is another simple but yet satisfying meal for breakfast or even lunch! Especially with the addition of smoked salmon :)

One Egg Omelette $18.50
The most glorious in picture and in taste is this dish below... Sauteed Mushroom with feta, herbs and sourdough. We did add grilled haloumi to it which Ms.N, Mr.M and my fave thing! Anything with mushroom can never go wrong hehhee..

sauteed Mushroom $16.50
Last but not the least, Acai Breakfast Bowl, as usual, we need something sweet to end the feast so we got this pretty Acai Bowl. It was good but I still prefer Culture Bean's. I think that cafe has nailed the best Acai Bowl ;p

Acai Bowl $13.50
The generous Chef, Ali, prepared us a complimentary Buckwheat and Cacao Pancake with Banana, Ricotta, Date Butter, and Agave Blueberry Syrup . I don't fancy buckwheat pancake especially after tasting my first one in COOH and I'm a bit skeptical about trying another one. But trust me, this buckwheat pancake taste soooo good, buttery, chewy and soft! Even bebski who never liked healthy food was cleaning off the plate ;P
Buckwheat and cacao Pancake $15.50
Another complimentary from the chef is this cute mini cup of set chia pudding.. Not sure if it's on the menu or not, We were just grateful that we got to taste some of dishes this place can offer :)

Overall, I think that they foods are well priced considering the large portion. The place can be a tricky one regarding large groups but I'm so thankful that they made the effort to sit us together within a reasonable time and service was great too!

Thanks for the hospitality, I', surely will be backk .^^.

My Delight, Mascot

Two Indonesian Restaurant in a week! We dooo missed Indonesian food soo muchh last week. Sunday is usually my brunch day but last week, I gave in to Bebski cause he wanted to try My Delight for quite a while now. My sister has been telling us to try their Green Chilli chicken and My friends told me to try their Beef Ball soup  / Bakso Abang  abang. So we went and go mad on the foods, as always ;p

First, we tried their Pork Meatball. It was quite cold already but still good. It got a the prawn taste and it's not as empty as the one in Pinang Bistro. But I still prefer the later hands down.

We also ordered the Pork Satay - Indonesian style pork skewer chargrilled with sweet soy sauce. The meat was very generous and the seasoning are just perfect! It does taste like the one we have in Jakarta. bebskii loved it so muchhhh! and I highly recommend it if you wanted to try a very good pork satay.

Pork satay 5pcs $8
And here comes the Green Chilli Chicken! Oh my Gawd, the green chillies areee too good! it's not spicy, but rather fragrant and really good with the chicken. The fried chicken is not as good as 99 but the green chilli, the best ive had so far in Sydney! Another recommended dish and especially eaten with steamed rice :)

Green Chilli Chicken $8
I tried the Bakso Abang2 - Clear Beef balls Soup with Tendon ball, soft tendon balls, Beef ball with egg inside and a tofu beef ball and vermicelli:) It wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be. It's okay, quite good. The problem is in the broth, it needs more punch of flavour. But with a bit of Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), a bit of salt, vinegar and chilli, everything's changed :)

Bakso Abang Abang $9
To feed my curiosity, we also tried the Combination Noodle it got mince pork, diced chicken, boiled wontons and the best part, crispy pork lardddd.. groarr... The only noodle in Sydney that think smart enough to add this on noodle toppings! Bebski & I would definitely come back here just because of the lard!

Buttt...... If you're unlucky, sometimes they don't make the lard, so it is seasonal. better call first before you drive all the way to mascot if your eally wanted to try it out :) But the seasoning of the noodle and everything else is just perfect! The chilli also great hereee...

We spent ard $40-50 here for everything. But we came out with full tummy and smile on our face. Especially bebski's face :)

Enjoy Mie, Kensington

A new Indonesian Noodle  shop opened up in Kensington not too long ago. So bebski & I decided to try it out one Thursday night. The location of the place was where Wow Bulgogi used to be. They've changed a bit of the interior but everything else are still similar.

So what you do when you enter is to look at the menu, order to the counter and then pick a seat :) There's a self-serve section for cutleries, condiments and serviette.

Bebski and I were starving and we wanted to try everything on the menu but unfortunately they ran out of their Fried meatball. So we just got the Deep Fried Wonton (Pangsit Goreng). Nothing special on the wonton, it's a bit oily in  my opinion and not very generous on the fillings ;p

Fried Wonton $5 for 4pcs
We ordered their Mie Spesial which includes Diced Chicken, Soy Egg, Chicken Giblet and boiled Wonton. I love the seasonings of the noodle and I'm pretty sure they used pork lard or some kind of fat cause the taste is just spot on ;P

The only thing to complete an Indonesian Noodle dish is Chilli sauce! Unfortunately again they put too much water onto the chilli mix, maybe to cut cost but the taste is just too bland. :( But the noodle is pretty itself without the chilli. It's just my preferences hehe..

Mie Spesial $11
I loveeee Gow Gee / Suikiaw n indo.. I got a bowl of gow gee soup for the sides. It tasted pretty good in my opinion.. Pretty similar to the ones we got back in Jakarta :)

Gow Gee 4pcs $6
So the verdict of this place.. Worth a try but bebski didn't like it that much so maybe i'm not coming back.. well at least not with him. he ended up getting a Maccas meal on our way home ;P
Apart from Noodles, they only got one rice variant in their menu. They closed Monday and Tuesday.

Pempek Clovelly, Kensington

As the name denotes Pempek Clovelly, an Indonesian restaurant located in Kensington, hidden from the other restaurants in Kingsford but definitely no less authentic than the rest. Pempek in indonesian means fish cake and usually eaten with the black thin spicy sour sauce. I know how I describe it is not appetizing but the flavour surely deliver!

First dish is the Pempek itself. I got the mixed one which comprise of the long pempek (Lenjer), Fish skin (kulit), The round one (pempek bola), the one with egg inside (kapal selam) and the one mixed with tofu. The pempek is deep fried and then covered with the thin sauce topped with diced cucumber. They also has an option with additional noodle but because we ordered other dishes, we eliminate the noodle.

the texture of the pempek is crispy on the outside and has its chewiness on each bite. I highly recommend everyone to try this dish out! Get the mixed one so u can taste everything.. :)
Mixed Pempek $18

My favourite dish in here is the combo of rice, mixed vegetables with peanut sauce (Gado-Gado) and fried chicken. If u want to taste what Gado2 in indo taste like, do order this dish! The chicken was great too. Can't be compared with Ayam goreng 99, but it has it's uniqueness in that the flavour penetrate even until the meat! Writing this post makes me drool even know im in Indo myself ;P
Mixed veggie with peanut sauce and fried chicken $10.50
Mr.Wjt ordered the Bakmie ayam.. The noodle was cooked perfect, still got its chewiness, the seasoning was good as well. I think they use pork lard ;P  Generous amount of toppings as well. hehe!

Bakmie Ayam (Chicken Noodle) $8.50
A friend also recommend their Egg savoury Martabak to try here. It was yummy but unfortunately they put a lot of spring onion which is my number one enemy in foods ahaha! So be prepared to have your mouth all oniony ;p
Savoury egg martabak (Martabak Telor)
It was a great Indonesian place to try out! Unfortunately they are not well located, but definitely worth finding and trying!

By now I think I've covered almost all Indonesian restaurant in kingsford - Kensington area ;P

Indo Rasa, Kingsford

Another Indonesian food post in Kingsford :) This is probably the last two that I haven't blog about besides Sedap rasa.. What I love from Indo Rasa's food is their flavour authenticity. I must admit that Indo Rasa got the highest authenticity rank amongst the rest (in Kingsford area). The place is always crowded but the waiting time won't be too long.. Haven't been here for a long time now but last Monday Bebski suggested to eat here with Mr.A and Mr.US and so we went.

I was starving that day, skipping lunch and so I did ate quite a lot at night ;p
We decided to order a main for each one of us and shared another dishes in the middle. I ordered the Nasi Kuning Komplit (Tumeric Rice) which comes with Fried chicken, Empal (Fried Beef tenderloin seasoned with sweet soy sauce), boiled egg, diced potatoes and beans. The tumeric rice was so fragrant that I can even eat the rice alone! I was so happy with my meal and not to mention the spiciness from the sambal on top of the cucumber slices :)

Nasi Kuning Komplit $12
Bebski ordered Nasi Komplit Indo Rasa which comes with Fried Chicken, Fried tofu, Fried tempeh, Crispy fish slices and a bowl of Sayur Asem (Indonesian sour soup). This is also a dish I regularly order but for the sake of photos for my post, I ordered the tumeric rice for a variation ;p

Nasi Komplit Indo Rasa $12.50
Bebski and Mr.A decided to share this dish called Buntut Bakar or Grill Ox tail. I didn't try the dish but Bebski told me the flavour is just so so. It's not as tasty as the one in Indo ;p

Buntut Bakar $9
Another shared dish but this time is between me and Mr.A, Tahu telor - Fried egg and tofu topped with peanut sauce, shallot and cucumber pieces. The english description to this dish doesn't sounds tempting but the I highly recommend this dish!

Tahu Telor $10
Mr.US on the other hand came with a tummy half full from all those fried foods he had at work ;p So he ordered Fried Vermicelli only :)

Fried Vermicelli $9
Last dish is Cumi Bakar - Grilled squid. For me it was just an average dish, the squid was a bit chewy, the marinate lack that flavour punch but the chilli on the other hand never fails to impress me ! :)
Cumi Bakar $14/16
Another thing that I usually order is the Satay chicken which unfortunately I don't have any pic of it but it definitely worth a try!
So when you're in kingsford area and got confused which Indo restaurant to visit first, I'd say Indo Rasa! :)

Ayam Goreng 99, Kingsford

I have been posting a lot of Indonesian restaurant lately. Been missing home this past weeks hehe..  Ayam goreng 99 is very famous in Kingsford area for it's grilled and fried chicken. They are also known for their HOT chilli which I loveeee!

They closed on Monday and Tuesday but the rest of the days, especially dinner, expect queues! They are popular not only among Indonesians but also others :) The interior of the place is pretty similar to restaurant that you'll find if you visit Jakarta..

The question of should I get rice and chicken or should I get the fried vermicelli always comes to mind every time I come here. But this time I'm getting both! The fried vermicelli come not long after we ordered. It's hard to describe the taste, all I can say it's Authentically Indonesian with slices of fish balls, chicken and eggs. The smoky wok aroma is just like an icing on a cake! So highly recommended. Their fried noodle is recommended as well.

Fried Vermicelli $11
Bebski ordered the Pepes Teri or Roasted anchovies in chilli, onion, tumeric and wrapped in banana leaves. If you're feeling adventurous, you are welcome to try this :) It tasted like a hard tofu with anchovies bits in it :)

Pepes teri $5
As usual, bebski got the grilled chicken. This dish is so famous that some of my Indo friends reckon that even in Indo, the grilled chicken is not as tasty as in 99! The chicken is grilled with sweet soy sauce and herbs and so u get the sweetness and also the charred goodness to it.

Grilled Chicken $6
I always get the deep fried chicken. They also have another option of the fried chicken served Javanese style which is slightly sweeter than the regular Deep fried marinated chicken. Sometimes the chicken breast can be too dry so to guarantee satisfaction, I recommend the grilled chicken or the javanese marinated or just get chicken thigh hehe..

Deep Fried Marinated Chicken (Ayam Goreng) $6
To complete the meal, a rice is a must. Sometimes I got the coconut steam rice with fried onions, but most of the time they run out of it during dinner cause it's sooo delish!
This post does not contain a lot of dishes ordered but that's because there were only 2 of us eating.
I don't think I have to say or promote much about this restaurant cause taste speaks louder than words and pictures, so go ahead and visit them!
